Tapestry Counseling

Individual & couples therapy in Downtown Indianapolis

Welcome.

I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

Maybe you’re considering therapy and are curious, or ready to take the next step. Perhaps you’re returning to therapy after time away.

Regardless, you’ve found a safe place to land.

Many of the adults & couples I have the joy of meeting with have found themselves in a season they didn’t expect; for others, a story they didn’t choose.

But this isn’t the end of your story.

Together we will hold the tension of what is, and together we will identify the barriers and next steps in your path forward.

My Services

  • A cozy living room with a yellow sofa, a silver MacBook, and a colorful pillow. In the background, a green leafy tree is visible near a window, with brass-colored couches and a white wall decorated with framed artwork.

    Individual Therapy

One on one sessions located at my office downtown in Lockerbie Square or virtually from home.

  • Front view of a historic Gothic-style church building with a stone staircase and decorative architectural details, surrounded by landscaped bushes and planters, under a clear blue sky.

    Couples Therapy

Two on one sessions for couples at my downtown office. In-person only.

Areas of Expertise

  • Silhouette of a woman holding a child against a colorful sunset sky with trees in the background.

    Perinatal Mental Health

As a trained perintal mental health therapist, I help parents experiencing postpartum anxiety and depression, birth trauma, infant loss, and the oftentimes difficult transition to parenthood.

  • Close-up of multiple hands, including a baby hand, stacked together in a gesture of unity or family.

    Disability Parenting

Whether you are navigating a disability, chronic illness, or a neurodiverse child, you shouldn’t have to do it alone. Together, we will create space to process grief, build support, and connect with yourself.

  • Close-up of young green plant sprouts emerging from soil.

    Infertility

Walking through infertility can feel lonely and uncertain. I walk alongside adults and couples at all stages of their journey, including those pursuing fertility treatments.

  • Two people sitting outdoors, one with curly hair and the other with straight hair, engaging in conversations with a blurred natural landscape background.

    Couples

Long-term relationships go through many seasons, and maintaining a safe connection through the ups and downs is vital. My training in Imago Therapy helps couples improve the quality of the space between.

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker whose career has been woven together by several rich experiences over the past two decades. My early years spent working in refugee resettlement left an indelible mark on the way I relate to and view the world. Not only did it provide me with a culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed lens that I continue to use daily in my therapy practice, it also taught me how to understand people in the context of their greater story and to hold each one with compassion & care.

As a therapist, I continue to find that people’s stories are the most compelling part of the work I do, and I count it sacred each time a person invites me into the story unfolding in their life.

I earned my Masters degree from Loyola University Chicago and have completed advanced training through Imago Therapy, Postpartum Support International, Enneagram Insight, and Prepare Enrich.
